Yesterday we got to check out the full Glee performance of Michael Jackson‘s classic song Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’ from this coming Tuesday’s special MJ tribute episode of Glee. Today, in further anticipation of the special tribute ep, we get to see the full Glee performance of Michael Jackson‘s song Smooth Criminal. Unlike the performance we saw yesterday of Startin’ Somethin’, this performance of Criminal is more pared down … intimate … bare bones. Check out the clip in full below and see what you think.
Smooth Criminal is one of my favorite MJ songs so I’m glad it was chosen among his MASSIVE catalog of hits for inclusion in this special episode. And while I like this performance, I’m afraid I’m not really in love with it. The dueling cellos are very cool. The dueling singers, I feel, don’t really give the song the oomph that is required of the song. I’m kinda bummed that the famous Michael Jackson Lean Forward dance move wasn’t utilized in this performance. Actually, I’m quite bummed there isn’t any dancing at all in this performance :/ I mean, hello, talk about your missed opportunity. Still … I am very much looking forward to seeing the 8 other MJ song performances when this special episode of Glee airs Tuesday night.
