Over the weekend we saw photos and video of Nick Carter paying homage to his late sister Leslie Carter (who passed away at the age of 25 of a reported drug overdose) in song and today we get a bit more sad Carter family news. It turns out that members of the Carter family decided to hold Leslie‘s funeral in upstate New York this past weekend … and not tell Nick about it. It’s not entirely clear why Nick was purposely left out of taking part in Leslie‘s funeral but while the Carter family was in mourning at her funeral, Nick was playing concerts in NYC and Atlantic City.

Nick Carter tells TMZ … he WANTED to attend his sister’s funeral in NY this weekend, but his own family made it impossible for him to be there. 25-year-old Leslie Carter was laid to rest at a small ceremony in Upstate New York this weekend after a suspected prescription drug overdose. Several family members were present at the funeral, including Aaron Carter, but Nick was not. Nick — who was on the road performing at a concert at the time of the ceremony — tells TMZ, "I wanted to be at my sister's funeral, but my family has always had a complicated dynamic.” Nick would not get specific about the circumstances … but sources close to the singer tell TMZ … he feels family members went out of their way to make sure he was not included. Nick adds, “There are so many emotions for me surrounding the loss of my sister. I am trying to stay healthy, positive, and focused."
Ugh, can this sad family story get any sadder? There must be a LOT of complicated dynamics in the Carter family for them to decide NOT to invite an integral member of the family to a funeral. I mean, obviously, I have no idea what is going on here but it seems really shitty for Nick to be left out of attending his sister’s funeral. Even if he was too bizzy to attend, at least give the poor guy the option. Leslie died way too soon … this funeral happened really quickly after her death … I’m sure Nick‘s head is still spinning over the loss. Again, I just hope the Carter family is able to heal … clearly they have many issues that they need to work thru :(
