Russell Brand And Katy Perry File ‘Amicable’ Divorce Papers And Aren’t Going After Any Money

News broke yesterday that Russell Brand’s attorney filed final divorce papers to end his marriage to Katy Perry on Tuesday. They were married for 14 months and they didn’t have a prenup agreement apparently. TMZ has reported that although Russell could be entitled to 50% of his ex-wife’s money, he will not be going after any of her savings or assets. Read below for more details about this divorce…

A few weeks ago we heard that Russell was planning to write another memoir and reveal all about his failed marriage. Understandably, this was pretty devastating to Katy. It seems now though that things are more friendly between the exes. TMZ reported that Russell confirmed the “amicability” of the divorce. “This divorce is as amicable as it gets,” one source told TMZ.

I am really happy to hear this news. Katy is one of the big earners of Hollywood. She reportedly earned $44 million between May 2010 and May 2011, according to Forbes. The fact that Russell is not going after her money is a good thing, and a sign that their relationship when they were together was indeed real and meaningful and that they want to preserve any friendship that is left perhaps. I have to say though, I am pretty surprised that they didn’t have a prenup. In this day and age, I would have thought that all stars and people with their own money arrange an agreement to protect their assets before getting wed. Isn’t this standard Hollywood procedure? This is kind of another reason I like these quirky two.. I wish them well in this divorce process, but it sounds like they are going really well.
