All those Hollywood “It Girls” better watch out, because Rooney Mara is in town and she’s ready to take your jobs.

The New York Mag reported the Oscar nominee is replacing Gossip Girl actress Blake Lively in an upcoming Steven Soderbergh thriller.

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo star will play the lead role in the director’s The Side Effects. And she’ll probably do a better job than Lively at portraying the character, given her previous gritty film credits.

According to Ace Show Biz, the 26-year-old will play Emily Hawkins, who First Showing described as a seductive young woman who is in a very fragile state of mind and taking a lot of prescriptions drugs to deal with the feelings of anxiety and depression she is experiencing.

The website also suggests that the drugs mess with her mind and cause her to accidentally kill her husband.

The film’s cast also includes Catherine Zeta-Jones, Channing Tatum and Jude Law.

Tatum will play Hawkins’s husband, while Law will play her doctor who she eventually has an affair with. It is still yet unclear what significance Zeta-Jones’s character, Dr. Erica Siebert, has in the film.

The script has already been written by Contagion’s Scott Z. Burns and shooting will begin this April. The film is scheduled to release next March.

Tatum is slated to take the role as the husband while Law is the doctor who eventually will have a relationship with Hawkins. Zeta-Jones is said to play Dr. Erica Siebert, but it's not clear how she's involved with the story just yet.

Scott Z. Burns (Contagion) wrote the script. Shooting will begin in April for a release in March 2013.
